Competitors were delighted with the course and complementary about the speed of the scoring system and prize giving's. EES at Asian Games

Asian Games

As part of a UK support team EES provided Paul and Wendy to assist with the 15th Asian Games in Doha in December. The second only to the full Olympics as the largest sporting event it was seen as the launch pad for Qatar and their bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.

Working on behalf of the Asian Equestrian Federation alongside the local organisers and the Chinese team that will be forming the nucleus of the Olympic team for 2008 they played their part in both the Eventing and Dressage competitions.

Having gone to Doha to support the fence judging for the Cross Country Phase it rapidly became apparent that other aspects needed an infusion of complete professional support.

Paul Elliott was rapidly deployed to ensure the timetabling of familiarisation and the logistics of Cross Country day ran smoothly. ‘The excellent facilities had one drawback; the Cross Country site was 5 kilometres from the base for the rest of the competition. On Cross Country day the 34 horses had to make that journey through rush hour traffic and be in position for a 9 a.m. start. That meant organising with the Chefs d'Equipes of the 9 competing nations for their horses to be loaded at day break, having found 6 lorries for them and 2 three-ton trucks for the tack. Stabling, Supplies, Veterinary and wash off arrangements were put in place on site with each team allocated their own areas. This became essential as dire weather conditions and the tragic death of a Korean rider saw the competition delayed by over three hours. It was in the dark as the last of the teams moved their horses back to the Doha Racecourse under police and security escort. The agreement of the security forces to co-operate with security sealing our transport and escorting our convoy through the traffic and the maximum security blanket that enveloped the country for the Games.'

Meanwhile Wendy Elliott was asked to step into the breach for the Dressage competition. ‘There was a shortage of experienced Dressage writers, or scribes as they refer to them, and I linked with the Head of the Ground Jury, Mariette Withages from Belgium for the Team and Individual competitions. We were also linked in with state of the art software that fed the stadium scoreboard to keep spectators up to speed after each movement.'

Asian Games

With ringing endorsements from the organisers Paul and Wendy travelled home proud to have contributed the Wardencheck Professional Approach to the Games.

‘Our aim has been to give businesses of all sizes the opportunity to develop a complete professional approach within their organisation. What has been developed is a package that can be tailored to the individual company and their staff' explains Paul Elliott. ‘With our team and associates we can familiarise staff with the principals of Marketing, develop their understanding of marketing tools and help them create the strategy and plan for their own company. Once in place we aim for the staff to be able to manage their own marketing but of course we are always available with support and advice when they feel they need it.'
